Clean Room: Can It Be Installed at Home? How Is It Good for Your Health?
Can a Clean Room be installed at home, and how is it good for your health? A "sterile room" or "clean room" refers to a room in which the amount of particles, dust, and various contaminants is controlled so as not to exceed a defined level. Such rooms are commonly used in fields that must take particular care with dust or pathogens, such as hospitals, food and pharmaceutical industrial plants, electronic component manufacturing plants, lens manufacturing plants, and others, because in these industries dust is a formidable enemy that can damage products and also endanger health. Beyond this, it also includes the control of various supporting factors, namely air quality and air velocity, temperature, pressure, and the relative humidity level within the room. It can be said to cover every factor relating to air condition and cleanliness inside the room.
But because today both the business sector and households are increasingly affected by air pollution, whether smoke and fumes from exhaust pipes, PM 2.5 dust, or airborne pathogens, especially over the past 2-3 years, you can see that the problems of smoke and pollution have greatly affected lifestyles and health, whether by triggering symptoms of existing conditions such as allergies and asthma, or by being the source of serious diseases such as heart disease and lung cancer. Even though these mostly do not show symptoms immediately, it cannot be denied that we breathe in impurities every day, gradually wearing down our health from within.
In addition to health problems, air pollution also affects quality of life. Allergic rashes, irritation, nasal congestion, or being unable to breathe deeply and feel fresh and clear are also impacts of pollution. Therefore, many sectors have begun looking for aids to make the surrounding air cleaner, purer, and safer for health, and Sanyawit's clean room is one of the key options for meeting those clean-air needs.

Where Does Airborne Dirt Come From?
The sources of contaminants, dust, and various fine particles in the air can be divided into 2 sources, as follows:
- External Sources In most cases, the various contaminants from sources outside the room (External Sources) can infiltrate the room space through the supply air conditioning system (Makeup Air, in the case of an AHU system), as well as by penetrating through cracks or leaks in the room's walls, partitions, ceiling, and air ducts. They can be said to slip in through every channel. Protecting your space from external dirt can be controlled by:
- Filtering the air with a special filtration system (HEPA Filtration)
- Controlling the pressure between the area of interest (Critical Environment) and the external area (Space Pressurization)
- Sealing cracks or leaks with silicone (Sealing of space penetrations)
- Internal Sources Dust, fine particles, and various contaminants (Contaminant) are mostly carried in by the occupants inside the room, whether from the clothing they wear, shoes, hair, skin, or even from breathing itself. Generally, the size of dust, contaminants, and fine particles ranges from 0.001 up to several hundred microns. Particles larger than 5 microns are mostly found on various surfaces and have a chance of floating in the air for only short periods. As you can see, these impurities can infiltrate through almost every channel, no matter how careful you are, how tightly you close the room, or how much you maintain cleanliness. Therefore, for anyone who wants their home to become a genuinely "clean" space, what you should have is a good aid that transforms an ordinary room in your home into a clean room that is genuinely free of pollution.

HEPA Filter: The Item That Transforms an Ordinary Room Into a Clean Room
The HEPA air filter, short for "High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter," is a high-quality air filter made from fiberglass woven so fine that it is exceptionally effective at filtering very small particles (Small Particles).
The phrase High Efficiency Particulate Air, the origin of the name HEPA, refers to a filtration and air-pollution-removal performance higher than normal. And when it is placed in the filter of an air purifier, this equates to a greater and finer ability to capture dust. A HEPA Filter can capture dust particles as small as 0.3 microns (many times smaller than PM 2.5 dust) at up to 99.999%. Thanks to a material made with advanced fiber technology, you can be confident that even extremely small dust, as well as other impurities such as pollen, smoke, or even airborne bacteria and mold, can be thoroughly captured by this HEPA Filter, for effective filtration of clean, pure air.
Beyond this, the HEPA Filter also comprises 4 filtration layers, as follows:
Pre-Filter: The first line of defense that performs primary air filtration, capturing particles from 3-10 microns, such as pollen, sprays, pet hair, and airborne impurities that can mostly be seen with the naked eye.
Medium: The second line of defense, the next filter layer, which captures particles 0.3-3 microns in size, such as bacteria and PM 2.5 dust. This layer helps reduce the workload of the HEPA Filter and saves costs, as well as extending the service life of the HEPA Filter. It is mostly used in medical settings, operating rooms, and dental rooms.
Carbon: The third line of defense, which helps filter odors and chemicals such as formaldehyde and various carcinogens.
HEPA Filter: The final line of defense, that is, the highest-performance filter, capable of capturing dust particles as small as 0.3 microns at no less than 99.999%. It is the final filter layer before the air passes into our clean room.
That said, this does not mean the HEPA Filter cannot capture impurities smaller than 0.3 microns, because the properties described above are merely the standard criteria for using the word HEPA. Today there are many grades and standards of HEPA Filter, some of which can effectively filter impurities smaller than 0.3 as well. These are commonly found in hospitals and various clinics that must strictly control pathogens so as not to affect operations and infection control.
The difference between the various grades of HEPA Filter can be easily observed by looking at the number following the letter "H"; the higher that number, the higher the filtration performance.
- HEPA H14: In 1 liter of air, impurities 0.1 microns in size have a "0.005 %" chance of passing through.
- HEPA H13: In 1 liter of air, impurities 0.1 microns in size have a "0.05 %" chance of passing through.
- HEPA H12: In 1 liter of air, impurities 0.1 microns in size have more than a "0.5 %" chance of passing through.
- HEPA H11: In 1 liter of air, impurities 0.1 microns in size have up to a "5 %" chance of passing through.
- HEPA H10: In 1 liter of air, impurities 0.1 microns in size have more than a "15 %" chance of passing through.
As you can see, the higher the grade of the filter, the finer its filtration. Therefore, if you want to be safe from the dangers of tiny PM 2.5 dust as well as pathogens and various airborne pollutants invisible to the naked eye, choosing a high-grade HEPA air filter (H13-H14) is the best answer.
Applying the HEPA Filter to a clean room in our home
- Today the HEPA Filter is applied across various sectors, from air purification in households to healthcare facilities and various industrial areas, such as medicine, Biotech, automotive parts manufacturing, and the electronics industry. The HEPA Filter is also an item with a service life of more than 8-10 years, so it can guarantee air quality in a given area for a long time. It is therefore suitable for use in the home as well as various places that require consistent air-quality control. Transforming an ordinary room into a clean room can help improve the health and quality of life of those living there, while also reducing the risk of serious disease and even aiding restful sleep.
- For this reason, our Sanyawit would like to present the HCU germ-control air purifier, which is the highest-performance air purifier available today, able to thoroughly filter pollution, PM 2.5 dust, pathogens, bacteria, impurities, and the various fine particles mixed into the air. Because it is an air purifier fitted with a HEPA Filter of the standard used by leading hospitals, you can be confident that the air passing through the air purifier will be clean, pure, and free of contaminants, guaranteed by our experience installing clean-air systems across virtually every field and industry. And with filtration performance as high as 99.999% per 0.3 microns, it can filter small contaminants many times better than ordinary air purifiers on the market, filtering dust, pollution, pathogens, as well as bacteria and various fine impurities that may cause disease, thoroughly. It can be said to "clear it all and end every worry" in the truest sense.
