HEPA Filter: How Is a Germ-Control Air Purifier Better Than an Ordinary Air Purifier?
How is a HEPA Filter germ-control air purifier better than an ordinary air purifier? With problems of airborne dust and pollution growing more severe by the day, the air purifier has become an essential item that many homes and offices buy and install for peace of mind. Of course, for dust particles 10 microns and larger, ordinary air purifiers can filter them out without any trouble. But when it comes to PM 2.5 dust, or pathogens and pollutants even smaller than that, the filtration performance of an ordinary air purifier may not be enough to meet the need. For this reason, air purifiers fitted with a HEPA Filter have come to play an increasingly important role today.
But for anyone who still doesn't know what a HEPA Filter is, or what makes it so good —
in this article, Sanyawit will take you all on a tour to get to know this type of filter together.

What Is a HEPA Filter? And How Important Is It for Clean-Air Filtration?
The HEPA air filter — short for "High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter" — is a high-performance air filter made from fiberglass woven into extremely fine strands, giving it an excellent ability to filter very small particles (Small Particles).
The phrase High Efficiency Particulate Air, which is where the name HEPA comes from, refers to a level of air-purification and pollutant-filtration efficiency higher than normal. When it forms the Filter inside an air purifier, this equates to a greater and finer dust-capturing ability. A HEPA Filter can capture particles as small as 0.3 microns (many times smaller than PM 2.5 dust) at up to 99.999%. Made with advanced fiber technology, it ensures that even extremely small dust particles, along with other contaminants such as pollen, smoke, or even bacteria and mould floating in the air, can be thoroughly captured by the HEPA Filter for efficient, genuinely clean and pure air.
That said, this does not mean a HEPA Filter cannot capture contaminants smaller than 0.3 microns. The properties described above are simply the standard threshold required to use the term HEPA. Today there are many grades and standards of HEPA Filter, and some grades can efficiently filter contaminants smaller than 0.3 microns as well. These are commonly found in hospitals and clinics, where germ control must be strict so as not to affect operations and infection control.
The differences between the grades of HEPA Filter can be observed easily by looking at the number following the letter "H": the higher the number, the higher the filtration performance.
- H14: For every 1 litre of air, particles 0.1 microns in size have a "0.005%" chance of passing through
- H13: For every 1 litre of air, particles 0.1 microns in size have a "0.05%" chance of passing through
- H12: For every 1 litre of air, particles 0.1 microns in size have more than a "0.5%" chance of passing through
- H11: For every 1 litre of air, particles 0.1 microns in size have up to a "5%" chance of passing through
- H10: For every 1 litre of air, particles 0.1 microns in size have more than a "15%" chance of passing through
As you can see, the higher the grade of the filter, the finer its filtration. So if you want to be protected from the dangers of tiny PM 2.5 dust, as well as pathogens and airborne pollutants invisible to the naked eye, choosing a high-grade HEPA air filter (H13–H14) is the best answer.

HCU Germ-Control Air Purifier by Sanyawit
HCU by Sanyawit is the highest-performing air purifier available today, capable of thoroughly filtering pollution, PM 2.5 dust, pathogens, bacteria, dirt, and the tiny particles mixed into the air. Because it is an air purifier fitted with a HEPA Filter at the grade used by leading hospitals, you can be confident that the air passing through the HCU air purifier will be clean, pure, and far removed from contaminants. Guaranteed by our experience installing clean-air systems in leading hospitals, clinics, and healthcare facilities nationwide, it answers every clean-air need in a single unit.
It is an innovation designed for genuinely clean air, with filtration efficiency as high as 99.999% at 0.3 microns. It captures fine contaminants many times more effectively than ordinary air filters on the market, trapping dust, pollution, pathogens, bacteria, and tiny dirt particles that can cause disease and fill the air with contaminants.
In addition, the HCU air purifier delivers high airflow while running quietly at just 50 decibels, so it does not disturb work or daily life and can be installed in bedrooms or patient rooms without interfering with rest. Every HCU unit has been tested to hospital sterile-room standards by a third-party company, so you can be confident in its performance, delivering thoroughly clean air free of troublesome contaminants.
HCU by Sanyawit, the leader in clean air, certified to Ministry of Public Health standards.
