The Necessity of a Clean-Air System in an Age of Polluted Air

The necessity of a clean-air system in an age of polluted air.

Today, we must accept that one of the problems affecting people's daily lives is none other than the problem of "air pollution," which grows more severe by the day, especially in densely populated provinces such as Bangkok and its metropolitan area, or provinces that rank among the highest in pollution levels every year, such as Chiang Mai. Because these provinces have large populations, the amount of air pollution generated increases accordingly, whether pollution from vehicle exhaust pipes, pollution from industrial plants, or burning. As a result, the fresh air we breathe steadily and alarmingly diminishes. Worse still, with the global warming problem worldwide showing no sign of easing, new forms of climate hazard have arisen that we now face every day, namely PM 2.5 dust and various epidemics that emerge anew almost every year.

Having good health in an age full of these health-risk factors must be admitted to be very difficult indeed, but it is not entirely impossible, because today there are technologies and new innovations designed specifically to solve the problem of pollution and airborne impurities. These technologies help filter and remove those impurities and continually circulate the air around us into clean, pure air, helping reduce health risks precisely and effectively.

But before we look at what those "technologies" and "innovations" are, let's first look at what you need to be concerned about regarding air pollution in the present age, and if left to continue, how worrying the resulting harm will be. Let's take a look.

How Worrying Is Today's Air-Pollution Problem?

In general, our atmosphere is composed of various gases and substances, such as oxygen or nitrogen, dust, and water vapor. These substances exist in a constant and appropriate quantity that does not affect the environment in any way. But over time, due to human lifestyle behaviors, whether driving vehicles, burning to dispose of waste, construction, or running industrial plants, which constantly release waste into the atmosphere, such as carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, or CFCs, the substances originally present in the atmosphere change, leading to the problems of global warming and ultimately impure air.

Of course, in the past, ordinary people like us may not have been as aware of the dangers of pollution as we should be, since we normally do not see that pollution with the naked eye and do not perceive how much the amount of nitrogen gas has increased, and it also did not noticeably affect our daily lives. But 2-3 years ago, PM 2.5 pollution began to be talked about more, and that pollution began to cause abnormalities in the body, such as irritation, dry throat, sore throat, or stinging eyes. Many people therefore began to take more interest, realizing that we are genuinely facing a PM 2.5 dust problem, which is a new form of danger that harms our physical health more than we think, and is also hard to prevent.

To view air-pollution values, which we cannot see with the naked eye, in an easy-to-understand way, the Pollution Control Department reports Thailand's Air Quality Index, dividing the pollution index considered harmful to health into 6 types, namely:

  • Dust particles no larger than 2.5 microns, which we are familiar with by the name PM 2.5, can penetrate all the way to the alveoli in the lungs, which results in conditions such as deteriorated lung function, bronchitis, or asthma.
  • Dust particles no larger than 10 microns, or PM 10, accumulate in the airways and affect health over the long term.
  • Ozone gas (O3) causes irritation of the eyes and airways, impaired lung function, and easy fatigue.
  • Carbon monoxide (CO) makes the heart work harder, resulting in bodily fatigue.
  • Nitrogen dioxide (NO2) causes respiratory disease and affects vision.
  • Sulfur dioxide (SO2) causes irritation of the skin, conjunctiva, and airways, and is a cause of chronic bronchitis.

The Pollution Control Department divides air-quality levels for informing the public; an index level of 0-50 means good air, but whenever the value rises above 151, it means the air quality in that area is at a dangerous level. In the short term we will have symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and sore throat, but in the long term, as we inhale pollution or take those fine dust particles into the body in ever-greater amounts, it may cause cerebrovascular disease, respiratory disease, lung cancer, or even newborns who are affected through the mother may have an incompletely developed body and have to be born prematurely, and so on.

However, the AQI value tends to focus on detecting pollution from air-quality monitoring stations installed outdoors, so the alerts focus on refraining from or avoiding outdoor activities, which is considered to reduce our risk to some degree. But we must not forget that fine dust particles and other pollutants we cannot see can infiltrate everywhere, even indoors, and there are also other toxins hidden in our household items without our realizing it, such as volatile organic compounds, or VOCs.

Indoor Pollution and the Dangers of VOCs You May Never Have Known

In a situation where pollution surrounds us like this, of course the best way to look after our health is to stay indoors, but we must not forget that fine dust particles such as PM 2.5 can infiltrate and stay with us anywhere, in any situation. There are also other risk factors you may never have known or been aware of before, such as the VOCs present in almost every building.

VOCs are chemical compounds in the form of volatile substances originating from solids or liquids, found mostly in the burning of fuel wood from vehicles or industrial plants, like other pollutants, but what is frightening is that they are also present in the materials and equipment we use in our homes, such as house paint, printing ink, scented candles, cleaning solutions, alcohol, and many other items with a strong smell.

They come in the form of a smell so pungent that it stings our nose and irritates our eyes, or if anyone comes into contact with them, they may cause severe allergic reactions.

When the air pollution we cannot see is everywhere, yet there are agencies that can measure and assess the values only outdoors, then what about the buildings where we live our lives, such as our homes or offices? How can we know how dangerous the level of pollution is? And how can we look after our health when every place has pollution like this?

To protect your health from inside to outside the home, our Sanyawit is ready to meet all those needs.

Sanyawit installs clean-air systems in the home, safe and far from air pollution

We install clean-air systems that are safe and disease-free for residences. If you want to be far from toxic dust, it has to be here, Sanyawit.

Sanyawit offers a comprehensive service for designing, installing, and consulting on indoor clean-air systems. To explain simply, Sanyawit's clean-air system is an indoor air-quality management system that creates good-quality, clean, and safe air to the same standard as clean rooms in leading hospitals, through the operation of our clean-air equipment such as the HCU, as well as an air-circulation unit that helps filter good air into the home from the very first step by creating Positive Pressure, so that stale air is pushed out through the various gaps of the home, making it impossible for outdoor pollution to enter the home. This is an operating principle different from ordinary air purifiers, to ensure that the air inside the home is of good quality, clean, and safe from PM 2.5 dust as well as pathogens, bacteria, and various viruses in the truest sense.

Beyond the quality of air and impurity filtration, another thing Sanyawit greatly cares about is "beauty." We have a skilled team to help design and install the air-filtration unit inside the home to achieve a beautiful position that is not cluttered or an eyesore, because we believe no homeowner would want their own home to look cluttered and unattractive after installing a clean-air filtration system. Air pollution is a troubling problem that affects our daily lives, and of course, if we live in impure air full of toxic gases, smoke, and dust, various serious diseases will come calling, if not in the short term then in the long term. Therefore, the best way to look after your health from these pollution problems is "prevention is better than cure," because it would be terribly difficult if we only begin to recognize the dangers of air pollution once our health has deteriorated to a point that is hard to reverse.

Making your home and office a place safe from PM2.5 dust and air pollution not only helps prevent the various diseases caused by air pollution but also raises the quality of life of the people in the area. If the area has good air where people can breathe deeply, the people there will be healthier too, especially in places with children, the elderly, or patients who are particularly sensitive to airborne triggers, where having a clean-air filtration system is indispensable, because ordinary cleaning alone is not enough to remove the impurities invisible to the naked eye. Our Sanyawit is therefore ready to step in and help you with that, alongside you at every moment.

"Because your every breath is precious."
